I came across this article, which was written a year ago- in the time that has passed since, Social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter have only grown in popularity and overall use. I would imagine that the statistic 34% of Americans turn to social networks for health information has only increased.

Social networking sites are changing nearly all industries including a significant impact on health care- and one of its biggest impact is how we seek and receive information.

Great article. You might think about uploading it to the FDA in anticipation of its upcoming Nov.12th hearing on the use of social media in promoting drug products. This is their first ever hearing on this topic, and the agency is aiming to address four topics in crafting guidelines for the social media space. Your overview would be welcome, I suspect, as they figure out how to mesh this media channel in providing good housekeeping rules. Go here http://www.regulations.gov/search/Regs/home.html#documentDetail?R=0900006480a28094
